The animation shows the processes of condensation and hydrolysis. The animation begins by showing the component atoms of the hydroxyl group on a glucose molecule. It then shows how condensation bonds two glucose molecules by removal of a water molecule and then hydrolysis which inserts a water molecule to break the bond between the two molecules.
