A taxic response is a movement of the whole organism in response to an external stimulus. Positive taxes move the organism towards the stimulus, while negative taxes move them away from the stimulus. A klinotaxic response is where the body organ bearing the receptors for the stimulus is moved from side to side to detect the stimulus and thus derive the most appropriate angle of movement for the response.
